Panama (Est. 2015)
A “Sister Cities” relationship between San Diego and Panama City, Panama, was established in July 2015, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Panama–California Exposition and the opening of the Panama Canal, an event that helped define San Diego’s role as a global gateway city.
We seek to expand cultural awareness, develop new business opportunities across multiple fields, create student and youth interactions, and strengthen university and institutional partnerships.
This relationship is supported by long-standing people-to-people ties between San Diego and Panama, and our goal is to build upon this shared history by expanding engagement both within the community and internationally.
